Course Aims

To provide thorough practical and theory training in carrying out suspended loads duties using a telehandler. To enable the candidate to competently and safely operate the machine, and pass the CPCS Theory & Practical tests.
 

Course Content

  • Manoeuvre in confined spaces with and without loads
  • Follow given signals and instructions when travelling and manoeuvring with and without loads
  • Configure and set for all lifting, loading and transferring duties.
  • Attach and remove attachments for the movement of suspended loads
  • Explain actions required for proximity hazards including underground and overhead services
  • Follow given signals and instructions during work activities
  • Lift and remove various loads up to full extension and working height of the telehandler
  • Transfer and place loads accurately at given locations
  • Determine the requirements for the lifting and transferring of suspended loads
  • Minimise the swinging of loads during travel
  • Types of attachments and accessories for suspended loads duties and the correct method for attaching the load to the telehandler
  • Stability and how it is affected by travelling with a raised book and a suspended load
  • Visibility issues and restrictions with suspended loads


This course covers endorsement E - Suspended Loads of the A17 category.
 

Qualifications Obtained

This course will give delegates a CPCS Red Trained Operator card (on successful completion of both CPCS Technical tests) valid for 2 years. You must work towards and achieve your SVQ/NVQ in Plant Operations within these 2 years to upgrade to a CPCS Blue Competent Operator card.

Entry Requirements

The relevant CITB Health Safety & Environmental test must be current and in date (completed within the last 24 months).
