Course Aims
This course is ideal for employees that have been identified to act as the first aider in low risk work place who are caring for the elderly.The course enables carers to provide appropriate First Aid when an elderly person has an accident or is suddenly taken ill.
Course Content
- Introduction to Emergency First Aid at Work including working with the elderly. This includes:
- Understanding how the ageing process affects First Aid
- Responsibilities and reporting
- First Aid Boxes
- Resuscitation
- Falls
- Assessment of the situation
- Choking
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Minor injuries
- Epilepsy
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Bleeding control
- Shock
- Burns
- Common medical conditions in the elderly
Test
Learners are continually assessed throughout the course to ensure learning outcomes have been achieved. Successful learners will receive a Sibbald Limited certificate which is valid for three years.
